About the Faculty-Student Program:
UniPod's FSP provides a platform for faculty and students to collaborate and transform their research into marketable solutions. Whether you're a seasoned researcher, an aspiring entrepreneur, or a student passionate about innovation, our program offers the resources and support to develop impactful products.
What to Expect:
Inspiring Innovations: Witness the development of prototypes that can reshape industries and address critical challenges. Our program spans multiple thematic areas, fostering creativity and practical problem-solving.
Collaborative Teams: Each team consists of one faculty member and two students, combining experience with fresh perspectives. Teams work closely to develop prototypes with the potential for successful product development.
State-of-the-Art Facilities: Access UniPod's cutting-edge facilities, including rapid prototyping machines, CNC equipment, design studios, and electronics labs. These resources support every stage of innovation.
Expert Support: Engage with experienced mentors, industry professionals, and entrepreneurs who provide guidance throughout the program, helping you navigate the innovation process.
Networking Opportunities: Connect with fellow innovators, share experiences, and build relationships with like-minded individuals. The FSP fosters a collaborative environment where ideas can flourish.

The FSP focuses on six key areas:
- Healthcare Solutions
- Agricultural Technology

These areas address pressing development challenges and provide a framework for innovative solutions.
Team Composition & Benefits:
The FSP is a six-month program enrolling teams of one faculty member and two students. Participants gain access to:
- Rapid prototyping, CNC machines, wood workshops, design facilities, and electronics labs.
- An intellectual property library and a Technology Transfer Office.
- Business development services and local and international innovation funding.
Eligibility:
Applicants must:
- Be academic staff from accredited tertiary institutions in Malawi.
- Have research suitable for product development.
- The main applicant must be Malawian and present in the country for the entire program.
Application Process:
Submit your application to applications@unipod.ac.mw by 11:59 PM, 11th September 2024. Include a completed FSP proposal and budget template, valid IDs, a CV, and a support letter from the Director of Research and Outreach or equivalent office.
